CSPN TASK PATHWAY
Lead a purposeful working-group discussion
Connect preparation, balanced participation, and a useful closeout in one facilitation pathway.
For a facilitator preparing an educational or community working-group session.
Prepare to begin
Choose one question the group can explore from professional or lived experience. Identify the time available and the perspectives that would help the group understand the question.
STEP 1
Prepare the question and invitation
Use a focused question and state how the learning will be used. Identify whose perspectives would help, offer an option to pass, and define the purpose in language participants can readily understand.
Carry forward: One discussion question, a clear purpose, and an inclusive opening invitation.
Prepare the facilitation briefSTEP 2
Build a session that fits the time
Give each segment a name, purpose, prompt, and duration. Compare the total with the available time. Preserve space for listening and a closing summary; move secondary topics into follow up when needed.
Carry forward: A timed runbook with a realistic opening, discussion, and close.
Plan the session timingSTEP 3
Preserve the learning and confirm the next action
Separate observations, suggestions, questions, and differing views. Ask the group to confirm the summary. Record an action owner and review date, and obtain permission before carrying a personal story beyond the discussion.
Carry forward: A confirmed summary with a concrete follow-up action.
Synthesize the discussion themesWorked fictional journey
A group explores digital-resource access in a 20-minute session. The facilitator invites participants to describe one access barrier, preserves time to hear varied perspectives, and closes with an agreed test of two instruction formats. The synthesis records both preferences and identifies the person coordinating the test.
Review the completed pathway
- The session fits the available time.
- Participation includes an option to pass and room for different perspectives.
- The summary preserves differing views and an agreed next action.
